Corneal Refractive Therapy CRT utilizes a technique in which contact lenses change the shape of the eye while sleeping. This change in curvature of the eye allows the patient to go without contacts or glasses throughout the day. The contact lens is only worn at night. The procedure works well for low to moderate nearsighted individuals with mild astigmatism. The procedure would consist of a precision contact lens fit specifically designed for the patients eye. Most patients will be able to see 20/20 vision without correction by the 10th day. Contact lens wear will be required at night to maintain the shape of the eye throughout the day. This is the advantage and disadvantage of the procedure. The advantage is that CRT is fully reversible and discontinuing wear will return the eye to its natural curve. This is a great option for patients not willing to have surgery or for patients to young for the surgery. The disadvantage is that the contacts must be worn nightly. Here at the Vision Clinic we are fully certified to perform CRT and would be happy to answer any and all of your questions. For more information please visit the following web page: Paragon CRT |
